• I am up to 2m long. I weigh up to 170 kg. My
  colouring is brown with grey spots or grey with
  black spots. I have short thick fur and closed
  nostrils when resting. I have a thick neck and
  pointed teeth in the front of my mouth. I have
  dark eyes and sensory whiskers that vibrate .I
  have five blunt claws. I also have ears that
  close and wide hind flippers with no external
  flaps.

Habitat

• I live in the sea most of the time or on rocks or
  beaches where I sun bathe. I do not migrate. I
  live in the north Atlantic along the Pacific
  coast from Alaska to California. I live in
  temperate, subarctic and arctic water.

How are your young born

• I wait patiently while my pups are feeding. I
  spend more time in breeding grounds after their
  birth. They are nursed and protected by us
  mothers for six weeks.

What do you eat

• I eat squid, fish, octopus, clams, and shellfish
  . I crush shells with my flat back teeth. I
  swallow food in large chunks. I eat 3 to 5 kg of
  food each day.

Who are your Enemies

• My natural enemies are polar bears, sharks and
  whales. I protect myself by swimming close to
  shore and taking a deep dive into the water.

Are you Endangered
I am endangered because people kill me for my
meat. They also hunt me for fur. Fisherman kill
me to protect fish. Pollution sometimes causes my
death.
