Construction
  • The keel of Titanic was put on 31st of March
    1909.
  • The keel was the most important part on which
    everything else depends.
  • It was made in Belfast .
  • It took three years to construct and fit out.
  • It used three million rivets.

Facilities Onboard
  • A piano in the Third Class common room or saloon
  • A 50 phone switchboard complete with operator for
    intra-ship calls.
  • A heated swimming pool and Electric light and
    lots of heat in state rooms

Maiden Voyage
  • The vessel began her maiden voyage from
    Southampton to New York on the 10th of April
    1911.
  • The Captain was called Edward J. Smith
  • As the Titanic left her birth her wake caused the
    liner SS New York witch was docked nearby to
    break away from her moorings.

Iceberg Collision
  • On Sunday the 14th of April 1912 the temperature
    had dropped to near freezing and the Ocean was
    calm. The moon was not visible two days before
    new moon and the sky was clear.
  • Captain Smith was told of iceberg warnings via
    wireless over the proceeding few days.
  • At 20 to midnight the Captain spotted a large
    iceberg directly ahead of the ship they tried to
    swerve but the iceberg scraped all the side of
    the Titanic.

The Sinking
  • The first lifeboat was number 7 on the starboard
    side with 28 people on bored out of a capacity of
    65.
  • It was lowered at 040am lifeboats 6 and 5 were
    lowered 10 minutes after lifeboat 1 was the fifth
    boat to be launched.
  • Titanic carried 20 lifeboats with a total of
    1,178 people.

Survivors
  • There was 19 dogs on the Titanic and 3 survived.
  • Anna Sophia Turja was 1 of the 21 children born
    of 2 mothers and one farther in Oulainen in
    Northern Finland
  • John Lundi the husband of the half-sister Maria
    invited her to come to work for him as the store
    in Ashtabula, Ohio and he got her a ticket for
    the Titanic.
  • There was 2223 people that survived.
