  • Symbiosis- a close relationship between 2 species

  • Mutualism-
  • both species benefit
  • shrimp

Ex. Crocodile and Plover Bird The drawing shows
the Nile crocodile opening its mouth to permit
the Egyptian plover (a small bird) to feed on any
leeches inside the crocodiles mouth.

  • Commensalism-
  • one species benefits and the other is neither
    harmed nor helped
  • Ex. Remoras (fish) and Sharks
  • The dorsal fin of the remora is modified into a
    sucker with which it forms a temporary attachment
    to the shark. When the shark feeds, the remora
    picks up scraps. The shark makes no attempt to
    prey on the remora and the remora is not hurt.

  • Parasite-Host relationship ticks,fleas, leeches
