- Eligibility index - GPA and SAT/ACT exams
4Minimum admission requirements for freshman
applicants for UC
- Must complete at least 11 of the 15 required
a-g courses by the end of 11th grade - Must earn a 3.0 gpa but are no longer required to
meet an eligibility index for consideration - Applicants are no longer required to submit SAT
Subject Tests (though some majors may require a
specific subject test such as Engineering or
Science)
5UC/CSU Academic Preparation
- English - four years, college preparatory
- History - U.S. History (1 year), world history (1
year) - Math - algebra 1, geometry, algebra 2 (4 years
recommended) - Science - two years of lab science (1 year of
life science, 1 year of physical science) (UC
recommend 3 years)
6- Foreign Language - 2 years of the same language
(UC recommend 3 years) - Visual/Performing Arts - 1 year
- College Prep Elective - 1 year course from a-g
list (see exceptions) - Online courses not accepted for lab science or
visual/performing art requirements
7- Maximum of 8 extra points allowed for approved
honors or AP classes (maximum of 2 points from
10th grade). - All of the above classes must be passed with
semester grades of C or better

- Given seven times each school year

- Fee is 49.00
- Location of the test is at Seaside High School
- Critical Reading/Math/Writing - max. score 800 x

- Hartnell College is the closest site for the six
test dates - Online registration at www.actstudent.org
- Fee is 49.50 w/ writing
- Need to request writing portion on ACT
- Max. score 36 w/o writing / 48 w/ writing
- Uses Most colleges require either the SAT or the
- ACT to help determine the eligibility of
applicants.
13Subject Test (SAT II)
- There are tests on 21 different subjects from
which to choose - Optional for the UC system, although some UC
majors require exam to show competency in
particular field (Private schools may require) - SAT IIs are given six times each year (With one
exception, these are the same test dates as the
SAT I). Not all tests are given on all dates - Fee is 33-55.00 depending on test choices

- Spring of junior year, can repeat exams Fall of
senior year (CSU Oct./UC Dec. last test dates) - A student should check with individual college
choices for last test date - Subject tests should be taken close to completing
the class (e.g. AP World History)

within a few weeks of submitting application.

additional multiple-choice questions at the end
of the mathematics CST (STAR) Alg. 2/Summative
