46CONCLUSIONES
- Diagnosticar pre-hipertensión tiene un
importante significado clínico y - en términos de salud pública.
- Es bastante frecuente y su prevalencia
probablemente se incremente - en relación al crecimiento de la diabetes y
la obesidad. - Está asociada a un aumento del riesgo
cardiovascular y frecuentemente - progresa a hipertensión.
- Podría servir como un temprano llamado de
atención de alteraciones - metabólicas.
- Conducta diferente entre ambas
subclasificaciones de pre-hipertensión? - El tratamiento no-farmacológico debe utilizarse
en todos los pacientes. - El tratamiento farmacológico debería reservarse
para pacientes de alto - riesgo (diabéticos, con disfunción renal o
enfermedad coronaria). - Ambas estrategias son efectivas para disminuir
la PA y prevenir la HTA - Los resultados del TROPHY nos abren nuevas
expectativas acerca del - tratamiento y control del riesgo de la misma.
