Common Law v. Louisianas Civil Law Common
law? a system of law where previous decisions
made in similar cases were used as guidelines.
This was the British system of law.

Louisianas Civil Law is based on French and
Spanish civil codes. These written guidelines
explain how individuals deal with each
other. The judicial decisions are based on
these codes.
