Title: To Change Things I must Change First

1
To Change ThingsI must Change First
  • To improve is to change to be perfect is to
    change often.   Churchill, Winston
  • Change to Useful Beliefs.
  • Unlearn previous poor-result practices relearn
    proven technique

2
THE SCRETE OFTHE CYCLE OF SUCCESS - BELIEF
RESULTS strengthen your Belief
Determine Understand your POTENTIAL
(PMA) Positive Mental Attitude
POTENTIAL determines your ACTIONS taken which
determine how much POTENTIAL will be tapped
Your ACTIONS determine RESULTS
Proper Technique
  • BELIEF is NOT REAL unless you BELIEVE it

3
Pitfalls - Bad Belief/Attitude
  • Bad Belief/Attitude gtgt Bad Effect/Result
  • I am stupid I am no good in .maths
  • I am good for nothing
  • I dont know gtgt telling your brain to stop
thinking and making connection thus killing your
    brain growth.
  • Let me think about it will make you to THINK
    thus making neuron connections.

4
Tips Practice Makes Prefect
If you are not good at something?
  • Most people give up or try to avoid it or giving
excuse that they are boring and do as little as
    possible.
  • YOU SHOULD
  • Keep on doing more in order to have enough neuron
    connections.
  • Do more, it will become easier and easier.
  • Do more and more you will get better and better.

5
Obstacles Confusion Difficulty
  • Good to be confused at or cant understand
something. When you are confused then your brain
is facing something beyond its present ability.
Then your brain is forced to THINK and try to
    make more neuron connections.
  • Do Not avoid or skip confusing and difficulty
    matters/subjects

6
Your Brain Has Tremendous Capacity
1,000,000,000,000 or 1 million million or 1,000
trillion or 1011 NEUTRONS
When you read or learn or think something new,
millions of neutrons are connected communicated
with one another
The more connections you make the more
Intelligent/Creative you are
7
Your Brain Has Tremendous Capacity
The Honeybee's brain is only about the size of a
sesame seed with a weight of about 1mg comprising
of some 850,000 neutrons or 0.00085 or 1/117,600
of human brain, yet it has remarkable capacity to
learn and remember things and is able to make
complex calculations on distance travelled and
foraging efficiency, building and maintaining a
honeycomb, calculating distance, collecting
nectar, producing honey, caring for its young and
communicating with other bees living in its
highly organized society
8
Your Brain Has Tremendous Potential
1,000,000,000,000 or 1 million million or 1,000
trillion or 1011NEUTRONS
  • Your brain is just like your muscle, you have to
Exercise it, USE IT or LOSE IT

When you practise your brain starts making
connections. The more you practice, the stronger
these connections become. When your brain starts
making more connections thus making you more and
more INTELLIGENT/CREATIVE
9
Adakah anda menggunakanotak anda sepenuhnya?Do
you make full use of your brain?
Setiap kita mempunyai bakat semulajadi. Sains
menspekulasikan yang kita hanya menggunakan 10
daripada kemampuan otak kita. Everyone has
natural creative talent. Science has speculated
that we are using only 10 of our brain capacity.
10
Cultivate Your Unrealized Potential
Kamu mempunyai kebolehan semula jadi dan
kreativiti yang terpendam itu berkembang. Maka
tolong anda sendiri untuk membuka dan kultivat
90 bahagian yang tertinggal daripada potensi
yang tidak direalisasikan pada andaYou have your
own natural talent and latent creativity awaiting
to be unfold. So help yourself to access and
cultivate part of the remaining 90 of your
unrealised potential
11
BAGAIMANAMENINGKATKAN KREATIVITI?HOW TO
INCREASE YOUR CREATIVITY
Creativity
  • Atas penghalang dalam diri anda dan membuka
minda anda untuk membuat sesuatu secara kreatif
(Overcome obstacles within yourself and open
    yourself to do things creatively)
  • 2. PELAJARI TEKNIK-TEKNIK Fikiran yang Kreatif
    (LEARN THE TECHNIQUES)

12
Creativity
3. Bergiat dalam pelbagai aktiviti/ sukan
(Indulge activities/sports) 4. Menyemai minat
pengetahuan yang luas. (Develop wide interests
broaden knowledge) 5. Buat rekod, semak
kerapkali dan amati idea baru yang muncul. (Keep
record, review regularly and see what ideas can
be developed) 6. Sentiasa berlatih (Keep on
practicing)
13
Activities Nurture Creativity
  1. Promote Artistic Activities freely
  2. Development of Imagination
  3. Enhanced Learning by Name Cards and other
    Displays
  4. Do not over-emphasize Tidiness
  5. Promote Creativity Games, e.g. Wooden Building
    Blocks, Puzzles, Origami
  6. Stories Telling
  7. Driving Around
  8. Make use of Meal times
  9. Make Every Places for Creativity- Supermarket,
    Park Garden
  10. Sport
  11. Communication

14
Terdapat beratus-ratus TEKNIK PEMIKIRAN
KREATIFThere are 100s of CREATIVE THINKING
TECHNIQUES devised.

15
Teknik-tekniktersebut adalah baik tetapi
kebanyakannya sukar dipelajari dan dikuasai.
Pilih salah satu daripada sedikit pilihan berikut
untuk kegunaan anda. They are good but it is a
problem to learn and master so many of them. It
is suggested to select one or a few suitable ones

NOWLETS LEARNSOMECREATIVE THINKING TECHNIQUES

21
Breaking the Rules
A CREATIVE THINKING TECHNIQUE
  • Salah satu cara paling ringkas mendapatkan
    IDEA-IDEA BARU.
  • One of simplest ways of getting
  • NEW IDEAS
  • Mengamati idea-idea yang sudah dipilih. Seeing
what ideas already been thought of

22
Breaking the Rules
A CREATIVE THINKING TECHNIQUE
  • Mengimbau kembali idea-idea untuk menjana
seberapa banyak idea baru. Reversing or twisting
ideas to come up with new ones as many ideas as
    possible
  • Teknik ini mencabar PERATURAN untuk membolehkan
sesuatu idea dapat dijanakan. This technique
challenges the RULES set for something to come
    up with something else

23
Breaking the Rules - Examples
A CREATIVE THINKING TECHNIQUE
Example 1
The father of automotive mass production
? Henry Ford broke the rule of old tradition
that people had to move to their place of work
and invented the assembly line by introducing
conveyor belt system which brought work to the
people and hence began the era of car mass
production
24
Breaking the Rules - Examples
A CREATIVE THINKING TECHNIQUE
Example 2
? Lif dibina di luar daripada bangunan agar
penumpang dapat melihat pemandangan yang lebih
indah Glass Bubble Lift is built outside instead
of inside the building and passengers can have a
GOOD view
25
Breaking the Rules - Examples
Example 3
  • Tenaga solar, bukan tenaga minyak biasa
  • Solar energy instead of using conventional fuel

26
Breaking the Rules - Examples
Example 4
? Taman negara kita melanggar peraturan mengenai
perjalanan meredah hutan. Pelawat boleh menerokai
hutan dengan menaiki CANOPY WALKWAY, 50 meter
dari atas hutan rimba. Our National Park broke
the rules about jungle walks, visitors can
explore the jungle trails leading up to the
treetop CANOPY WALKWAYS, 50 metres above the
forest floor.
27
Breaking the Rules - Examples
? Canopy Walkway, Kolam Air Panas Poring
Jambatan gantung atas pokok terpanjang di Sabah,
salah satu kolam air panas yang terpanjang.
Poring Hot Spring Canopy Walk - The longest
canopy bridge in Sabah, hang suspended over the
forest floor as you gain a bird's-eye view of
jungle life on high.

Forced Connection
Membuat perkaitan yang tidak wujud Making
connections where none existed
TERDAPAT BEBERAPA CIRI There are several methods
  • PERKATAAN RAWAK Hubungkan masalah anda dengan
satu perkataan yang dipilih secara rawak.
  • RANDOM WORD - Relate your problem to a randomly
    chosen word

33
Forced Connection
A CREATIVE THINKING TECHNIQUE
2. Peribahasa, Petikan Makanan Hubungkan
masalah anda dengan suatu peribahasa atau
petikan atau makanan secara rawak. QUOTATIONS,
PROVERBS . Food - Associate your problem to a
randomly selected quotation or
proverb or. Food
3. IDEA GILA-GILA - Pilih idea yang paling
berlainan yang boleh diperolehi melalui
Percambahan Idea dan cuba paksa suatu
perkaitannya dengan masalah anda. CRAZY IDEA -
Pick up the CRAZIEST idea that e.g. obtaining
from BRAINSTORMING and try to force a
relationship with your problem

Brainstorming
PERCAMBAHAN IDEA/PEMIKIRAN
A CREATIVE THINKING TECHNIQUE
BRAINSTORMING
A CREATIVE THINKING TECHNIQUE
1. FASA PENIMBULAN (GENERATION PHASE) -
Mendapatkan seberapa idea yang boleh ( Getting as
many ideas as possible) ? Pilih satu masalah yang
didefinisikan (Select a well defined problem) ?
Dapatkan jumlah peserta yang Sesuai (Have a
suitable no. of participants) ? Bertenang dan
beralih ke keadaan fikiran yang agak gila-gila
(Relax and get into a crazy frame of mind) ?
Tidak ada kritikan, setiap idea mesti diterima
dan dicatatkan (No criticism, every idea is
accepted and recorded)
41
Brainstorming
BRAINSTORMING
  • FASA PENIMBULAN sambungan (GENERATION PHASE
    contd)
  • ? Galakkan peserta membina idea yang
dikemukakan. (Encourage participants to build on
ideas of others, combine with other techniques)
  • ? Sambut idea-idea ganjil (Encourage odd ideas)

2. FASA PENILAIAN (JUDGEMENT PHASE)
Tangguhkan keputusan, pertimbangan dan penilaian
(Suspend your Judgement, Incubation and
Evaluation)
42
Brainstorming step by step
BRAINSTORMING (cont'd)
PERCEMBAHAN PEMIKIRAN
LANGKAH DEMI LANGKAH (untuk latihan kumpulan)
STEP BY STEP( For Group Exercise) 1. Nyatakan
masalah dengan jelas (Define well the problem) 2.
Bahagikan kepada kumpulan antara 10 15 orang
setiap kumpulan (Divide into groups each
comprising of 10-15 persons) 3. Tetapkan had
masa (25 minit) (Set time limit (say 25
Minutes) 4. Setiap orang cadangkan penyelesaian
masalah seorang menulis (tidak ada kritikan
langsung). (Everyone suggest solutions while one
person writes)
43
Brainstorming step by step
BRAINSTORMING (cont'd)
PERCEMBAHAN PEMIKIRAN
5. Bila tiba masanya, pilih 5 idea yang terbaik.
Once time up, select the five BEST ideas 6.
Tuliskan kira-kira 5 kriteria untuk menghakim.
Write down about five criteria for judging 7.
Berikan setiap idea 0 hingga 5 markah dan
jumlahkan kesemuanya. Give each idea a score of 0
to 5 points add up the scores. 8. Idea yang
paling tinggi markahnya akan lebih berkesan
menyelesaikan masalah anda. The idea with the
highest score will best solve your problem
44
TIPS How to get a Good Idea?
The Best Way to get a Good Idea is to get a lot
of Ideas

With CREATIVITYNothing is Impossible
47
AESOP FABLE
  • The Crow
  • the Pitcher/Water Jar

48
Classical Aesop Fable -The Crow the Pitcher
A crow was very thirsty because it had not rained
for quite a while and the land was dry. The
crows throat was so dry that he could not say
Caw. His black feathers were dusty. The crow
was so weak that he could hardly fly.

49
Water???
The crow went looking for water. He came to a
farm. He spotted a pitcher sitting on the ground.
He thought for a moment hoping that there would
be water in the pitcher.
.
4
50
????How??
The crow hopped to the pitcher. He looked inside
and was happy to found water in the pitcher. His
happiness didnt last long because he could not
reach the water at the bottom of the pitcher. He
tried and tried other methods including pushing
or breaking the pitcher to reach out the water
but in vain. He was very desperate but did not
give up. Then he calmed down and start thinking!!
6
51
Then the crow started looking around and he saw
lots of pebbles. While thinking he got an idea
when he saw the little stones.
8
52
The crow took a pebble at a time in his beak. He
dropped the pebble into the water pitcher. Plunk!
The water got up a little higher. He dropped
another pebble into the pitcher. Plunk! The crow
kept on adding more pebbles. Plunk! Plunk! The
water got even higher.
9
53
At last, the crow could reach the water. He took
a long sip of water and really satisfied.
12
54
What is the Moral of the Fable?
  1. Creative Thinking is superior to brute strength
  2. There is always a way - Necessity is the mother
    of invention
  3. This is a classical Reversal Method, The Crow
was thinking of drinking water out of the pitcher
but instead it thought of putting stones in.

With CREATIVITY ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE

The Donkey Story
A farmer's donkey fell into a well. The animal
cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to
figure out what to do. Finally, he decided the
animal was old, and the well needed to be covered
up anyway it just wasn't worth it to retrieve
the donkey.
56
The Donkey Story
He invited all his neighbours to come over and
help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to
shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey
realized what was happening and cried horribly.
Then, to everyone's amazement, he quieten. A few
shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked
down the well. He was astonished at what he saw.
With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the
donkey was doing something amazing. He would
shake it off and take a step up.As the farmer's
neighbours continued to shovel dirt on top of the
animal, he would shake it off and take a step up.
Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey
stepped up over the edge of the well and happily
trotted off!
57
The Donkey Story
There is always a solution to a problem.
With Creativity,
nothing is impossible.
This is another example of Reversal
Method in
Creative Thinking Technique.
