Title: Correlation and Regression

1
CorrelationandRegression
  • Correlation analysis measures the strength of the
association between two (or more) variables.
  • Regression studies the nature of the relationship
    between two (or more) variables.

2
Measures of Correlation
  • Pearsons Product-Moment Coefficient (Pearsons
    r) created in 1907 is the most common measure
for interval or ratio variables. It is a
    parametric measure which requires bivariate
    normality.
  • Spearmans Rank Correlation Coefficient is the
most commonly used measure for ordinal (i.e.
    ranked) variables.
