1 INDICATOR 2 PURPOSE 3 IMPORTANCE OF COLLECTING 4 LINKAGE TO DEVELOPMENT PLANS / Policy Frameworks 5 DATA COLLECTION / REGULARITY
AF-1.1 Proportion of household income from agriculture and forestry activities (can disaggregate by income from subsistence and income from sales) LRD works to strengthen the capacity of agriculture and forestry services to support the livelihoods of people working (paid or subsistence) in these sectors. This indicator measures the contribution of these sectors to livelihoods. The level of income generated by these activities is a crucial measure of their contribution to peoples wellbeing. MDG 1 (poverty and hunger) National accounts (contribution to GDP important to have data separate for Ag, Fish, For) HIES (but not available frequently enough)
AF-1.2 Proportion of labour force engaged in AF activities (disaggregation by population groups, gender possible) Measure of the contribution of the sector to employment in countries. Agriculture and forestry are often described as the backbone of the rural economy. Need to confirm this with evidence and monitor changes particularly for young people. MDG 1 (poverty and hunger) Agriculture and forestry may be the only source of income (subsistence or cash) in certain locations Census (but not available frequently enough) HIES (but not available frequently enough)
