Patients experience of the care environment in
geriatric, oncological and psychiatric health

• The aim of this study is to increase the
  knowledge of how an altered physical environment
  is experienced by patients in three different
  health care settings
• Relation to patient cantered care Coming into
  a hospital ward is a stressful experience for
  many patients which in turn can affect the
  outcome of assessment and treatment as well as a
  negative impact on patients well-being. The care
  environment has to be adjusted to the patients
  needs including a person-centred care instead of
  task-oriented. It is still not known though what
  impact those aspects have in specialized wards
  where the most vulnerable patients are treated
• Method The study has a qualitative approach
  with individual interviews. Thematic content
  analysis will be used when analysing the
  interview texts to describe the manifest and
  latent content
• Collaborators The study is part of three
  ongoing environmental studies in collaboration
  with The Centre for Health Care Environmental
  Research at Chalmers Architecture and Sahlgrenska
  University Hospital
