JROTC Today

• Recognized in 2005, in an accreditation letter
  from the Southern Association of Colleges and
  Schools (SACS)
• JROTC directly supports the schools mission and
  mandates per the No Child Left Behind Act
• by integrating technology, linking content to
  state standards, integrating reading and writing,
  and providing character and financial education
• Cadets of all abilities and backgrounds learn
• life skills, study and test-taking skills
  develop critical thinking improve wellness and
  fitness and increase academic achievement
• Outcomes of JROTC are charged to over 4000
  instructors that provide institutional knowledge,
  leadership, and experience
• The return on investment (ROI) provides intrinsic
  value and an engine for social stability to
  schools, communities, and the country

• JROTC has emphasized character education,
  citizenship and leadership, and promoting the
  value of selfless service, personal
  responsibility, teamwork, self-discipline, and a
  sense of accomplishment
• JROTC impacts over 1645 high schools (25 NDCCs) -
  comprising over 287,000 young men and women
• JROTC is funded and managed in a cooperative
  effort between the military and host institution
• JROTC adds substantial contributions to overall
  school performance and average daily attendance
  ratings worldwide

• Expand JROTC by 265 new units (FY2010-2012)

• BDUs wear-out date Apr 09 (No BDUs at FY09 JCLCs)

CGs Guidance

• The timeline is aligned with the transition of
  the SROTC Bde transformation timeline.
• The JROTC Bde Staff and programs will remain
  under the C2 of Bde Commanders until all newly
  aligned Bde/Geo Boundaries are completed on or
  about Oct 2009 at which time the new JROTC Bde
  will stand up. Once formed the staff at each
  location will be titled Area Coordinators (AC's.
  Example AC Dix, AC Bragg, AC Monterey etc.)
• There will initially be four forward deployed
  Assistant ACs with staffs located at Redstone
  Arsenal, Ft. Leonard Wood, Ft. Carson and
  Monterey. These forward deployed Assistant ACs
  and their staff will be phased out in the out
  years (three or more years) to facilitate
  co-location with owning AC headquarters.
  Example Ft. Leonard Wood staff will move to
  Great Lakes, Ft Carson to Ft. Sam Houston etc.

CGs Guidance

• Detailed MOUs will be done and CCR 145-2 updated
  that mandates Bde Commanders, PMS and AC will
  maintain a formal relationship once the JROTC Bde
  is formed.
• Bde Commanders will be required to support/sign
  risk assessment and inspect all JCLCs assigned to
  them once the JROTC Bde is stood up.
• A JROTC BDE DCO will be located at Ft. Lewis.
  The command will provide the JROTC
  Bde a YC03 civilian authorization concurrent with
  the standing up of the BDE.
