History
  • The oldest sailing race in the Caribbean with a
unique and rich history. Trading schooners

  • The first organised Round Barbados Race was held
in 1936, contested by 5 schooners and won by
Capt. Lou Kennedys Sea Foxin a time of 10

media and the public alike, with popular calypsos
of the time featuring the race.
  • News reports are enshrined in the Barbados
archives as a testament to importance of the race.

all sailors, and place it firmly at the start of
    the international sailing calendar
  • To leverage the history and heritage behind the
Round Barbados Race to the benefit of Mount Gay
    Rum and associated sponsor brands
  • To bring a world class sailing event to Barbados,

    Barbadian consumers and spectators.
