  • The Teacher Evaluation Process is a direct
    product of the NC Professional Teaching Standards
    designed to prepare our students for working and
    living in a 21st century world.

What are the standards?
  • FIVE standards same for all teachers regardless
    of experience that include assessment of teacher
    leadership, class environment, and teacher
    reflections of practices.

Process
  • Orientation and Training
  • Complete online teacher self-assessment - use
    rubric to rate own performance
  • Complete online Professional Development
    Plan-must include the School-wide goal and an
    individual goal
  • Pre-Observation conference-Observer meets with
    teacher to discuss self-assessment, PDP, and the
    lesson to be observed. Required before the first
    formal observation

  • Observations (number of observations determined
    by status)
  • 1. probationary
  • 2. Career
  • 3. Career abbreviated
  • Post-Observation Conference-to occur within 10
    days of observation.

  • Summary Evaluation Conference-completed before
    the end of the school year and includes the
    Teacher Summary Rating Form

Licensing Status
  • Probationary Beginning Teachers-must be
    proficient on all standards in order to be
    eligible for Standard Professional License
  • Probationary Experienced Teachers-must be rated
    as proficient on all standards before being
    recommended for career status

Growth Plans
  • Individual Growth Plan (IGP/PDP/PGP)
  • Monitored-teacher is rated developing on one or
    more standards on the Summary rating
  • Directed-teacher is rated not demonstrated on
    any standard on Summary Rating OR rated
    developing on one or more standards for two
    sequential years
