Description of our Topic
  • The lesson is designed for the end of 4th grade
    or the beginning of the 5th grade
  • Working chronologically from past to future
  • Series of tasks for each step in the history of
    vehicles
  • Skills Focus on vocabulary, oral skills and
    writing skills as well as on understanding and
    creativity

Past - Introduction
  • Showing pictures of different historical planes
    and asking the students to describe the pictures
  • ? Brainstorming, activating pre-knowledge
  • Students get the pictures with the instruction on
    a worksheet
  • Teacher presents them on the OHP for everyone

Present Elaboration phase
  • Students are supposed to create a dialogue at the
    airport
  • Firstly the teacher hands out some flashcards
    with possible phrases and vocabulary
  • Students work in pairs They have to choose their
    character
  • Next step Preparing for acting the dialogue out
    (Writing it down and practise it)
  • Teacher role Walks around and gives advices when
    needed
  • Resources dictionary
  • Optionally If a group volunteers for acting,
    they can show their dialogue in front of the class

Future Creative task
  • The teacher hands out a work sheet
  • The teacher asks the students what they see on
    the pictures
  • Afterwards the students are asked to think about
    their own ideas for a future airplane
  • Tasks Students draw their airplanes and
    describe them in two or three short sentences

    airplanes to the class
