2
Start of the Day (Juniors)
This helps identify who isnt at school and it is
part of the before school routine (They drag
their name across).
3
Start of the Day (Middle/Senior)
This helps the students get themselves ready for
the day and prepared for school. Some
interactivity is vital!!
4
Oral Language
Using a digital copy means that it can be saved
if you want it to. The children could do this
before school.
5
Before School
Perhaps leaving this up before school might
generate some writing and discussion, and can
then be used for writing or oral language
programmes.
6
Class Demonstration New Learning
This gives students time to process new
information and is great for the introduction of
new core knowledge.
7
Hot Spotting - Maths
Group work is so much easier if everyone can work
together to relearn new knowledge. Discussion is
vital!
8
Introducing New Formats
The introduction of this character format was
introduced at the start of the reading session.
9
Using their tools
Many of the IWB programmes have tools like
rolling dice, countdown clocks etc. What does
yours have?
10
Handwriting
By preparing all the handwriting templates first
it means that you simply need to add the date and
then write over the top of the letters already on
screen.
11
Building Schoolwide Understandings
Building school-wide understandings often needs
lots of clear examples and discussion. Using an
IWB means that everyone can see and hear the
session.
12
Goal Setting
The benefit of writing this up on the IWB is that
it can be saved and the template used each week.
13
Brainstorming
A great way to record initial ideas which can be
saved and then added to later (in different
colours)
14
Interactive Web Links
Using existing web pages and pictures can save
time and energy. Adapting them is easy, so have
a go!!
15
Teaching Progressions
A wonderful way to show students learning over
time. Outlines can be premade in advance so that
progressions can be charted easily.
16
Reflection
A great way to see how a group or whole class
saw their session, day etc. Can be saved and
used to start the next session on the same topic.
17
Evaluation
A great way to finish the day and discuss the
emoticons used. Promotes reflection of the day.
18
Homework Reminders
This is a great way to remind all students what
their homework is. Can be completed each day in
a junior room and can be used for forward
planning for seniors.
