TOUCH SCREEN
2
What is Touch Screen ?
  • A Touchscreen is a display which can detect the
location of touches within the display area. This
allows the display to be used as an input device,
removing the keyboard and/or the mouse as the
primary input device for interacting with the
display's content. Such displays can be attached
to computers or, as terminals, to networks.
Touchscreens also have assisted in recent changes
in the design of personal digital assistant
(PDA), satellite navigation and mobile phone
devices, making these devices more usable.

3
Basic Components Used.
  • 1. Touch Sensor ( Glass panel covers screen)
  • 2. Controller (IC Interconnects PC to sensor)
  • 3. Driver (Software)

4
  • Touchscreens As Input Device
  • All of the touchscreens that we offer basically
work like a mouse. Once the software driver for
the touchscreen is installed, the touchscreen
emulates mouse functions. Touching the screen is
basically the same as clicking your mouse at the
same point at the screen. When you touch the
touchscreen, the mouse cursor will move to that
point and make a mouse click. You can tap the
screen twice to perform a double-click, and you
can also drag your finger across the touchscreen
to perform drag-and-drops. The touchscreens will
normally emulate left mouse clicks. Through
software, you can also switch the touchscreen to
    perform right mouse clicks instead.

General Composition
  1. Polyester Film
  2. Upper Resistive Circuit Layer
  3. Conductive ITO (Transparent Metal Coating)
  4. Lower Resistive Circuit Layer
  5. Insulating Dots
  6. Glass/Acrylic Substrate
  7. Touching the overlay surface causes the (2) Upper
Resistive Circuit Layer to contact the (4) Lower
Resistive Circuit Layer, producing a circuit
    switch from the activated area.
  8. The touchscreen controller gets the alternating
voltages between the (7) two circuit layers and
converts them into the digital X and Y
    coordinates of the activated area

6
There are a number of types of touch screen
technology
  • 1.Resistive
  • 2.surface acoustic wave(Ultrasonic waves)
  • 3.Capacitive
  • 4.Infrared
  • 5.Stain Guage(springs)
  • 6.Optical ImagingInfrared Back lights cameras)

7
What Are Touchscreens Used For?
  • Public Information Displays.
  • Retail and Restaurant Systems
  • Costomer Self Service.
  • Control Automation Systems.
  • Computer Based Training
  • Assistive Technology

8
Future Aspects !!
  • As we all knows todays smartest phone is i-phone
which is working on touchscreen which is next
    generation phone.
  • Also Microsoft surface is best example for it
today we all r familiar with it.
  • Which is going to be next generation computing
    technique.

9
Draw Backs .
  • Not Used Much Where more need of typing documents
as well more written office work.
  • Costly in compare to mouse key boards.
  • Need more care while handling .
  • It is not portable.
