Dr. Khater Massaad, CEO, RAK Ceramics

  • 1989
  • Dr. Khater Massaad was invited by H.H. Shk. Saud
    Bin Saqr Al Qassimi, Member of the Supreme
    Council, Crown Prince and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah
    to conduct feasibility study to exploit minerals
    in RAK
  • After the study was completed, it was found that
    the clay deposit was best suited to manufacture
    ceramic tiles
  • 1990
  • H.H. Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qassimi envisioned a
    major plan for a ceramic factory in a private
    joint venture with few investors
  • In February the construction of production
    facility began
  • 1991
  • In June, the first plant in RAK began production
    to meet the local demand before quickly expanding
    to overseas market

that reduces microbial contamination and

  • Specially developed for RAK Ceramics after
    intensive research in Spain to cater to the needs
    of health-conscious customers and hygienic
    environment
  • The specialized glaze is incorporated into the
    glaze during the manufacturing of the tile
  • The firing of the glaze into the tile at high
    temperatures creates a surface that instantly
    destroys most of the microbes that come in
    contact with the tile
  • Since the antimicrobial glaze is merged on the
    tile, it guarantees long-term performance
  • It is best-suited for hospitals, pharmaceutical
    organizations, schools, hotels, kitchens and
    other areas where healthy living and cleanliness
    is a top-priority

    sunlight or artificial light
