HISTORY
1947-75 Administration of the Education
Department was looked after by the respective
Political Agent/ Deputy Commissioner of the
Agency /District. 1976-78 Directorate of
Education was established under the Federal
Ministry of Education, Islamabad. 1979 Transferre
d to KANA Division Islamabad. 1998 Senior
most Associate Professor was deputed as
Director Education Colleges on attachment
basis. 2006 Post of Director Colleges has been
created. 2010 The senior Associate
Professor (BPS-19) has been adjusted as
Director Education Colleges GB

INITIATIVES/ACHIEVEMENTS

• 1- The process of contract appointment against
  46 (male,female) vacant posts of teaching staff
  has been completed.
• 2- Proposal for creation of various posts (12)
  to establish a sub office of Directorate of
  Education Colleges at Skardu for Baltistan Region
  has been submitted to GB Secretariat.
• 3- Requisition to FPSC for fill up vacant posts
  of teaching staff of colleges of Gilgit-Baltistan
  has also been submitted.
• 4- Promotion cases of male and female teaching
  staff of GB Colleges against promotion quota is
  in process and submitted to GB Secretariat.

INITIATIVES/ACHIEVEMENTS

• 5- Proposal for creation of 27 posts of teaching
  staff for F.G . Degree College Skardu has
  already been initiated and also been forwarded
  to Secretary Finance GB.
• 6- PC-1 for the establishment of Directorate of
  Education Colleges has been partially approved
  by competent forum.
• 7- Submission of PC-IVs for creation of posts
  regarding complete Projects of the following
  Colleges.
• 1. F.G Boys Inter Colleges Shiger
• 2. F.G Girls Inter College Ghakuch
• 3. F.G Boys Inter College Gupis

INITIATIVES/ACHIEVEMENTS

• 8- Two co-ordination meetings of GB Colleges has
  also been convened during the year 2010 to
  augment the educational progress in Govt.
  Colleges.
• 9- Process for Award of merit scholarships for
  the students of MBBS,BDS,Pharm-D and B.Sc.
  Engineering is at last stage.
• 10- Separation of budget for Directorate of
  Colleges has also been made for proper and
  smooth functioning of Directorate.

ISSUES

1. Lack of teaching staff for Colleges of GB
2. Pending cases of creation of posts against
   completed development schemes of GB colleges.
3. In sufficient accommodation for Directorate of
   Colleges in existing building.
4. Lack of transport facilities to monitor the
   colleges to improve the quality of education.
5. Non availability of training facilities for
   faculty members /administrative staff of GB
   Colleges

RECOMMENDATIONS

1. PC-IV against completed development schemes of
   colleges be approved on priority basis.
2. Reasonable transport facilities be provided for
   monitoring and evaluation of GB Colleges.
3. Sufficient budget/funds be provided for training
   of teaching staff of colleges for improvement of
   professional/ teaching skills to achieve quality
   education.
4. Establishment of girls Inter college is a dire
   need at constituency No.3 Gilgit to minimize the
   pressure on F.G.Degree College for women Gilgit.

• 5- In the same way two Inter colleges, one girls
  and one boys at Gumba Skardu are needed to be
  established to minimize the pressure on Degree
  colleges of Skardu city.
