Our Mission
  • Mobilize the Diocese of Rochester to help those
    affected by the devastation of Hurricanes Katrina
    and Rita
  • Cooperate with the larger community in its
    response
  • Express our Christian solidarity with those in
    need

Strategy 1 Material Support
  • Provide cash donations via Catholic Charities USA
  • Cash remains the urgent request
  • Cash provides the most flexible solutions for
    people on the ground
  • Used clothingno need at this time
  • Results to date DOR has donated over 500,000 to
    CCUSA
  • Youth group donated 5,000 at NCYC in Atlanta

Strategy 2 Partnership
  • We will partner with Archdiocese of New Orleans
  • Allows us to focus our efforts
  • Allows local parishes to take initiative through
    parish-to-parish partnerships
  • Provides a structure for long term recovery and
    support
  • Other partnerships schools, colleges, diaconal
  • Results to date
  • Partnership established diocese-to-diocese
  • Over 20 parishes have been matched to a sister
    parish
  • 18 parishes are still in internal consultations

  • Provide local support for 300 evacuees
    throughout Diocese of Rochester
  • Local Catholic Charities and parishes provide
    local, supplemental support to government
    assistance
  • Partner with ecumenical and inter-faith efforts
  • Opportunities for local participation/donations
  • Food, furniture to food pantries, collection
    centers
  • Housing to local Catholic Charities databases
  • Results to date
  • Support to lt20 people through Catholic Charities

  • We are the first diocese to partner with them!
