    require secondary and tertiary services in
    Canterbury DHB
  • How do we do this?
  • Co-ordinate all secondary and tertiary health
    care in a Childrens Hospital.
  • Strategic development committee with project
    management support.

How should we provide services?
  • Work actively with primary care providers to
    ensure all providers support children and their
    whanau/family to meet their needs in the
    community and hospital
  • Improve equity of services.
  • Provide services for children and youth that meet
    Sector Standards.
  • Accommodation separate from adults

Do we have support? Yes!
  • Stakeholder acceptance that improving child
    health services within the CDHB requires a
    co-ordinated integrated approach within a
    Childrens Hospital.
  • National support for CDHB to provide a Hub for
    the South Island.

What should child health services in Canterbury
look like in the future?
  • One entry to ED CAA, Childrens ED, Childrens
    Bone shop in their own area ie near but
    separate?
  • Increased HDU capabilities or a Paed ICU?
  • CHOC unit, Young Persons Cancer centre, - where
    in relation to Adult Cancer services.
    Comprehensive Cancer Centre.
