Abandoned Mine Inventory andHazard Abatement
  • Over 300 hazardous and dangerous mine openings
    are safeguarded each year statewide.
  • Mine closure projects are currently underway and
    ongoing each year in mining districts throughout
    the San Juan Region

Water Quality
  • Non Point Source Program- EPA Funded through
    Federal Clean Water Act.
  • CDMG previously sponsored numerous mine site
    reclamation projects, and water-shed
    characterization research.
  • CDMG currently provides technical assistance and
    reclamation project execution and management
    services to watershed stakeholder groups for
    characterization and reclamation projects,
    through interagency MOUs, funded through NPS
    grants directly to the watershed group

Historical/Cultural

    Preservation Office, and receive NEPA clearance
    where required.
  • Mine closures designed to enhance and stabilize
    historic structures where ever possible
  • Old Hundred Restoration and stabilization project
    completed cooperatively with San Juan County
    Historical Society in 1999, using State
    Historical Preservation fund grants.
