Mentoring stems from the Qs
  • What happens after a course? For some people
courses work first time, for others more support
    is needed.

    (Is Back-Up for me?)
  • What happens after discharge from hospital?

What type of people can we support through
mentoring?
  • Example 1
  • You are a young teenager injured very recently.
You have just left the spinal unit and are due to
go back to your old school in the next few weeks.
Most of your friends have been very supportive
but you are scared about how people might react
to you and that you will be teased about your
    disability.
  • Example 2
  • You are newly injured and have just started to
think about going back to work. However, you have
been having lots of difficulties with your
bladder management. You are finding that this is
undermining your confidence and making you less
and less willing to go out into social situations
for fear of having a bladder accident. You find
    this difficult to talk about.
  • Example 3
  • You are newly injured and have a young family.
You are very anxious about how your children will
cope with your disability and whether you can
continue to be a good parent.
