The Mountain Region

  • This region is located on the eastern side of
    California.
  • California was a difficult state to get to in the
    1800s, due to the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
  • Yosemite National Park, located in the Sierra
    Nevadas, is found in our own Mountain Region!
  • Mount Whitney, the tallest mountain in all of the
    United States, (with the exception of Alaska) is
    located in the mountain region.

The Central Valley Region

  • Valley area between mountain ranges.
  • The Sacramento River and the San Joaquin River
    are the two largest rivers in California they
    are found in the Central Valley Region.
  • Our state brings in much of its money due to the
    agriculture from this region.

  • Coast land along the ocean
  • This region borders the Pacific Ocean and is
    located on the western side of California. It
    runs all of the way from northern California down
    to southern California.
  • Orange County, the county that we live in, is
    located in this region.
  • Many people travel to the Pacific Cost Region to
    vacation and visit its beautiful beaches.

The Desert Region

  • This region receives less than 5 inches of rain
    per year.
  • Temperatures in the day can reach up to 120
    degrees Fahrenheit and as low as 60 degrees
    Fahrenheit.
  • Death Valley, located in the Great Basin, is the
    lowest area in the United States, and is the
    hottest desert in the world!
  • 3 deserts are located in this region
  • The Mojave
  • The Colorado
  • The Great Basin
