2009 Plans
  • Develop DSIG Strategic Initiative Plan
  • Enhance Transition Process to Virtual Community
    (VCP)
  • By 12/31/09 DSIG must transition to a Community
of Practice (CoP) or Forum, (i.e. SIG as we know
    it officially dissolves)
  • CoP requires commitment of 10 documented officers
whereas Forum requires 4 documented officers
  • PMI will eventually be responsible for
    coordinating and assigning officers
  • Budget managed through PMI
  • Members must approve disposition of SIG funds

15
VCP Discussion
  • What are the driving forces behind the Virtual
    Communities Project?
  • What are the key deliverables that are currently
    being addressed by VCP?
  • Who is leading VCP Phase 2?
  • What kind of benchmarking did PMI perform in
    initiating this project and organizational
    change?
  • Where can you find out more about VCP activities?
  • What does normalization of value mean?
  • How will current leaders be impacted by the
transition to the new virtual community models
    that resulted from VCP?
  • In the future, how will PMI virtual communities
    be administered?
  • What are core services to be delivered by the new
    community models?
  • How will scope of a community be determined?

16
VCP Discussion
  • Will there be one committee governing all virtual
    communities?
  • Does the new model funding come from community
    dues?
  • What is the time frame to implement the
transition? What is the impact to the Diversity
    SIG?
  • Volunteers derive value from the experience of
running a virtual business unit. How does the
new virtual community model create this
    experience from volunteers?
  • If many of the SIGs are doing a good job of
    delivering member value, why change?
  • Credibility is a major factor in finding
information useful and helpful. How can we know
what is considered credible knowledge within a
    PMI community?
  • How will PMI support the technology of the
virtual communities in the new models?

17
Discussion
  • Do you have any questions about VCP that we need
    to take back to PMI?
  • Do you want the SIG Officers to migrate DSIG to a
    Forum or CoP?
  • What expectations do you have?
  • Are there any products and/or services that you
would like to see DSIG offer?
  • What subjects would you like to see covered in
    DSIG webinars presentations?
  • What can we do to make this a better experience
    for you?
  • Can you volunteer to help?
