BIM Definition

• BIM is the digital representation of physical and
  functional characteristics of a facility creating
  a shared knowledge resource for information about
  it and forming a reliable basis for decisions
  during its life cycle, from earliest conception
  to demolition

• Uniclass keen to combine GH

  whichfulfils a .function of the building or
  other construction entitywithout regard to the
  type of technical solution or method or form of
  construction.
• These attempts have pushed (or in some cases
  ignored) this definition

• These things cannot be clearly classified in
  Uniclass
• Truss
• G311L3523 is a steel truss in a roof
• G311L3621 is timber trussed rafter in a roof
• Slab
• G311L3421 is precast concrete slab in a roof

• If BIM is going to be more than a super CAD
  system
• Information on life cycle costing, facilities
  management and final demolition needs to be
  attached to the things so that they can be of use
  to the owner and occupiers of the building
