  Services or DHS

• What is WOA?
• WOA is Workforce Orientation for Applicants.
• This program is run by Workforce Solutions Brazos
  Valley.

More about TANF

• TANF is a short term cash benefit to support
  yourself and family while you look for
  employment.
• TANF is a Pay for Performance Program. Meaning
  you must participate in Workforce Activities to
  continue receiving TANF benefits along with you
  personal Medicaid.
• Employment is the only solution since TANF is a
  Time Limited resource.

• This session provides information on the services
  you can receive in your search for employment
  with Workforce Solutions Brazos Valley.
• This meeting is also for people who must
  demonstrate 4 weeks of cooperation in order to
  receive TANF benefits.

  opportunities without TANF
• The benefits of personal responsibility.
• You must complete this session before being
  approved for TANF benefits.

  Department of Human Services worker in order to
  begin receiving TANF or cash assistance.

Is there a time limit for benefits?

• If certified as a TANF recipient, DHS will
  determine if you qualify for 12, 24 or 36 months
  of TANF depending on work history and education.
• Receipt of TANF benefits is limited to a LIFETIME
  maximum of 5 years (60 Checks).

• All months count (if you receive cash benefits),
  whether or not you participate in Choices.

• The receipt of TANF benefits is 60 checks
  followed by a lifetime Freeze Out from
  additional cash benefits for the entire family.

Program

• The Choices program is a service provided by
  Workforce Solutions Brazos Valley to aid people
  receiving TANF cash assistance with finding,
  keeping and improving their job situations.
• People in the Choices program receive
  individualized attention to help with career
  goals.

Workforce Solutions Brazos Valley offers Choices
Program

• People in Choices who are participating full time
  can be eligible for
• Transportation Assistance
• Clothing Assistance or work related expenses
• No Cost Childcare Assistance
• Skills Assessment
• Job Referrals

If you do not want to participate in the Choices
program, you may want to ask your DHS case worker
if you are eligible for the one-time TANF payment
of 1000.00. (If you do receive this payment
you would not be eligible for Choices program.)

Employment Planning SessionEPS
After you complete this orientation you will
receive a Notice to attend an Employment Planning
Session to enroll in Choices. This is the ONLY
Notice you will receive.
Contact the phone number on the Notice BEFORE the
Employment Planning Session date if you are
unable to attend for any reason.
For Mandatory customers, failure to attend the
EPS session will result in a possible penalty
being issued. This could stop your TANF monies
and adult Medicaid.
