Your Library
Here is a brief guide to help you use your
Library. But if you have any questions just ask
Miss Colquhoun the Librarian.
  • All new pupils are automatically members of the
    LRC when they join the school.
  • Your School Library is here to support you with
    your studies during your time here.
  • We are the place to try first if you need any
    information.
  • Dont forget to join your local public library
    too!

When is the Library open ?

Lunchtimes After School
When the library is open during Lunchtime and
after school you can come and do your homework
and use the computers.
You may need to book computers as they are very
popular. Priority is given to those needing to do
course work on them.
Friday Lunchtime is reserved for Reading Club

How many books can I borrow ?
You can borrow 2 books for up to 2 weeks in S1
S2 4 books for up to 2 weeks in S3 S4 Up to
8 books in S5 S6
You can also borrow 1 audio book for up to 2 weeks
And 1 videotape for 1 week
These can be renewed for longer unless someone
else has asked for them.
All Library loans must be checked out (and
returned in the blue box) at the issue desk
even if they are only leaving the Library for a
few minutes.

We offer
  • 20 PCs linked to the school network, all with
    access to the Internet.
  • 2 laser printers and a colour printer.
  • A flatbed scanner
  • Headphones so you dont disturb other users.

Using your Library Resource Centre
The Library has a large Study Area reserved for
people who wish to work in a quiet atmosphere.
When you come into the Library, other people may
be studying, so please enter without making lots
of noise!
Normal classroom behaviour rules apply in the
Library too !

Reading Club
The Reading Club is open to all pupils with an
interest in books and reading. It meets on
Friday Lunchtimes at 1pm. (If you wish to eat
youre your Lunch in the Library then meet at
12.50pm)
It has been running now for nearly three years.
In that time the club have taken part in many
activities including making displays, running
book sales for charity, participating in online
discussions and of course there is the Christmas
party.

Careers Library
If you want to find information about future
studies or careers, the library is home to a
collection which not only holds books and
pamphlets, but also provides Internet access to
many useful resources.
Prospectuses for most UK universities are held,
along with many for Scottish further education
colleges.
The Internet access allows the use of PlanIT and
other websites which can give you information on
qualifications and skills needed for different
types of jobs, as well as college information and
some online application forms. You can also
access college and university web sites.
You can request an appointment with the Careers
Officer from the Library.
