Swedish Nature
Sweden is 1,600 kilometres from the south to the
north. This means that the nature varies in
different parts of Sweden. Cultivated land
accounts for some eight per cent of the area, as
do fells and mountains. Urban settlements occupy
a few per cent. The rest, half the country, is
covered by forest. Sweden has a lot of water.
There are 96,000 lakes, large and small, which
together with the nations' wetlands cover
approximately one fifth of the country's
surface.(http//www.internat.naturvardsverket.se)

The City of Kalmar
  • Kalmar is one of the country's oldest towns
  • It is situated in the southeast of Sweden and it
was once the third largest town in the country.
  • It has played an important part in Swedish
history and during the Middle Ages it was a
significant trade centre in the Baltic region.
The magnificent castle in Kalmar was long an
important meeting place for defence and politics,
and is today one of the best preserved
Renaissance palaces in the Nordic countries.
  • Modern day Kalmar is a medium-sized town with 60
000 inhabitants and a centre of education,
culture and administration. With its historic
