What is tense?

• When we are talking about the English language,
  tense is all about time
• The 3 simple tenses are
• Present I go
• Past I went
• Future I will go
• But there is one more that we use very much the
  Present Progressive I am going
• The present progressive can be used for both
  present and future time.

The Simple Present Tense

• The present tense is all about whats happening
  at this very moment.
• It is the easiest of all the tenses to use I
  see, I jump, and so on
• However, we use the past and present progressive
  much more.

The Simple Past Tense

• The past tense is used to tell about everything
  that happened before right now, from two seconds
  to 1,000,000 years ago and more.
• When we are telling about what has happened, we
  usually use the past tense I saw a car. I
  jumped a fence. and so on
• Try to write a short story in the present tense
  to see how hard it is to stay in the present
  tense.

The Simple Future Tense

• The future tense is used to tell about events
  which will happen from now on
• This tense is always formed with the helping verb
  will. I will go, we will buy, it will cost a
  lot and so on.

The Present Progressive

• The present progressive is formed with a main
  verb ing form and a helping verb form of the
  verb BE I am singing We are listening
• Very often, it is used with a contraction were
  buying or youre staying
• Generally, it is used much more than the simple
  present tense.
• It can also be used to express future actions,
  when used with the going. For example,
  Tomorrow, were going shopping or In a minute,
  Im going to fix dinner.
