Application Guidelines

• Who can apply?
• K12 schools in the United States or Canada with
  which the Ministerio de Educación y Ciencia (MEC)
  has signed a Program of Cooperation.
• How?
• Completion and submission of the application
  forms.
• Positive assessment.
• Incorporation of the International Spanish
  Academy (ISA) into the network

Applicationsshould include the following
information

• students who will participate in the program
• staffing requirements
• teacher training
• program objectives
• curriculum
• plan for the evaluation of students and the
  program
• administrative support
• support from the Ministry of Education and
  Science of Spain
• plan for the implementation of the program
• School current and historical ratings and
  rankings.

Applications

• Curriculum
• The following should be specified for each grade
• content areas that are taught in Spanish and/or
  English
• specific components of the Spanish language and
  cultures of Spanish-speaking countries
• plans for the teaching of Spanish as a world
  language
• materials used.

Assessment

• Each ISA will provide a report and an activities
  memo at the end of the school year that provide
  proof they have reached all established
  objectives and fullfilled the planned
  requirements in the cooperation agreement.
• This document will be evaluated by the MEC
  (Ministry of Education and Science) through the
  Spanish Education Office in Washington DC.
