Rise of Nazi Germany
  • Hitler wrote Mein Kampf where he outlined his
    beliefs on a master race, the faults of democracy
    and Christianity, and the Jewish people.
  • He formed the Nazi party and swiftly took Germany
    over by force.

Fascist Italy
  • Benito Mussolini led Italian expansion to create
    a new Roman Empire.
  • In 1935, Italy invaded Ethiopia and declared
    themselves allies with Germany

Japan
  • Hoping to exercise influence across Asia, Japan
    took over Manchuria in 1935.
  • Most nations disliked Japanese aggression but
    would not risk going to war.
  • Japan eventually became allied with Germany and
    Italy.

  • Joseph Stalin also sent dissenters to labor
    camps.
  • In the hopes of expanding, Russia signed a
    non-aggression pact with Germany in 1939.

    Channel and invaded the French coast.
