"A. Volta" Schools Bari Italy

Bari
Commercial and administrative capital of Puglia,
a university town and southern Italy's second
city, BARI has its fair share of interest. But
although an economically vibrant place, it
harbours no pretensions to being a major tourist
attraction. People come here primarily for work
or to leave for Greece on its many ferries. Bari
was already a thriving centre when the Romans
arrived. Later the city was the seat of the
Byzantine governor of southern Italy, while under
the Normans Bari rivalled Venice, both as a
maritime centre and, following the seizure of the
remains of St Nicholas, as a place of pilgrimage.
Since those heady days Bari has declined
considerably. Its fortunes revived briefly in
1813 when the king of Naples foisted a planned
expansion upon the city giving the centre its
contemporary gridded street pattern, wide avenues
and piazzas. And Mussolini instituted a
university and left a legacy of strident Fascist
architecture. But the city was heavily bombed
during the last war, and today its vigorous
centre is a symbol of the south's zeal for
commercial growth.

Bátonyterenye
  • Town with 16,000 inhabitants 8 km south of
Salgótarján in the valley of Zagyva between Mátra
and Cserhát Mountains. Four formerly independent
    villages, Nagybátony, Kisterenye, Szupatak and
Maconka, with significant traditions of their own
had been united to make Bátonyterenye. The
original settlements are symbolized by four jets
of flame bursting out from a ground black diamond
in the coat-of-arms of the town. The imperial
domed, which is rather unique in Hungary, late
    Baroque Gyürky-Solymossy mansion with a well-kept
11 hectare garden is in the Kisterenye part of
the town. The church is of late Baroque style,
built with bulbiform cupola similar to the
mansion. Statue of writer Lajos Abonyi in the
garden of the mansion, at the place of the city
feasts. Palóts Landhouse can be found in the
neighbourhood of the park. The 14th century
church of Maconka with its medieval frescoes in
the sanctuary is of special interest for
tourists. The Roman Catholic church of Nagybátony
is a Baroque building erected in the 18th
century. A harmonic village scene welcomes the
visitor by the Lutheran church and its
environment in Szupatak. Among others the Youth
Camp of Szorospatak offers excellent venues for a
prolonged holiday in tents. The Ady Endre
Cultural Centre is one of the most splendid
    cultural buildings of the county.

InGaFor" Instituto Galego de Formacion Vigo Spain
In the Galician province of Pontevedra, situated
on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, lies the
city that lends its name to the southernmost
estuary of the Rías Baixas Vigo. The port of
Vigo, one of the finest natural ports in the
world, was the origin of this city fringed by
mountains. Its maritime qualities, already
exploited in Roman times, have given rise to the
present-day marinas and the transatlantic
harbour, as well as to the fishing and canning
industries. The historic quarter, the so-called
Cidade Vella, is articulated around the old
maritime quarter of O Berbés, near the port.
Situated in this quarter, which has
Tourist-Historical Interest status, are the
arcades around the Plaza de la Constitución,
fishing streets and emblazoned houses. The modern
sector contains one of the best miradors over the
Vigo estuary, the Monte do Castro mount. Located
amidst the forests and leisure areas are the
remains of the hill-forts that constituted the
early settlement, as well as the ruins of the
10th-century O Penso Castle, the layout of which
was used for the construction of the 17th-century
Tower Castle still standing.

EURES - European Employment Services - is a
cooperation network designed to facilitate the
free movement of workers within the European
Economic AreaSwitzerland is also involved.
Partners in the network include public employment
services, trade union and employers
organisations. The network is coordinated by the
European Commission. The main objectives of EURES
are- to inform, guide and provide advice to
potentially mobile workers on job opportunities
as well as living and working conditions in the
European Economic Area - to assist employers
wishing to recruit workers from other
countriesand- to provide advice and guidance to
workers and employers in cross-border regions.
10
A European labour market requires European rules
of the game, combining open borders with adequate
protection
11
  • The ambition is, to help bring about such a
European labour market, on four key conditions
  • that it is based on the principle of equal wages
and working conditions for equal work in the same
    territory
  • that national collective bargaining and
industrial relations systems are fully respected,
and valued as an indispensable and dynamic tool
    to manage change
  • that it provides equal access of all workers to
    social benefits
  • that it provides stakeholders at all relevant
levels, including the social partners, with
proper instruments and tools for monitoring and
    enforcement.

12
The EU Member States in cooperation and
coordination with the European Institutions
should invest in measures that provide for proper
management and basic order on the national and
European labour markets, combining open borders
with basic protection, which would pave the way
for no longer relying on transitional
restrictions.
13
At national level, governments should, together
with their social partners, investigate how
national regulations and practices and the
national industrial relations system can be
strengthened to cope with the challenges of cross
border mobility.

European young people ......

16
Hello, my name is Mario, I am 25 years old and I
obtained a degree in Law at Baris University. I
also have a certificate in computer programming.
I wish to find a job giving me the opportunity to
move to another town and to travel extensively.
I am looking for work in Hungary
17
Some info on Hungary
Work permits From the 1st of May 2004 onwards,
Hungary will be open for EU nationals concerning
study or residence purposes. However job
mobility between the old 15 EU Member States
and the 10 new EU Member States still faces
some restrictions for up to a maximum of seven
years after the EU enlargement. I have to contact
the Hungarian embassy in my home country for
further information The application procedure
Ill use any contacts (my entire network!) I
have to find a job in Hungary. Sending a
speculative application to the local office in
which I would like to work is a reasonably
successful strategy in Hungary. Hungarian
employers value a good academic background,
linguistic and computer skills and
an understanding of business.
18
WORKING CONDITIONS Employment agency activity in
Hungary is conducted by the State Employment
Service and private employment agencies on the
basis of conditions specified in legal

by the Public Employment Service (ÁFSZ) is that
of an employment agency, and it aims to help
bring jobseekers and job recruiters together,
with consideration for the fact that jobseekers
should find the job that best suits their
qualifications, training and state of health.
Information related to the service is available
on the ÁFSZ website, where current job vacancies
may be viewed. Employers can post their job
offers on the ÁFSZ website.

European rules on working contracts
31
How can you orient yourself in the world of the
job in..
  • Spain
  • Italy
  • Hungary

32
The Spanish Labour Legislation offers to the
Spanish youth five types of employment contract
Contact for the formation aimed at young people
with no academic qualifications. The duration of
this type of contract willnot be inferior to
sixmonths nor superior than two years. Once
overcome this period, the contract will be able
to turn into an indefinite one.
Contact in practices aimed at those who have got
an university degree or at people with a
professional or vocational training. It will last
between six months and two years, with
possibility of two extensions (providing that it
does not exceed the mentioned maximum
duration). It will be done in writing, stating
qualifications, duration and job position. This
contract can be turned into an indefinite
contract.
33

duration and the work to develop. It finishes on
having ended the work or service, with a
compensation of eight pe year worked.
Eventual contract for production circumstances
it is issued to attend the circumstantial
requirements of the market, the accumulation of
tasks or the excess of the orders. It will last
maximum of six months within a period of one year.
Indefinite contract in this contract the parts
dont know which is going to be the duration of
their labour relation. The indemnification for
rescision of contract will be equivalent to 45
days per year worked.
34
The apprenticeship contract has the scope to form
the young people, not for the single working
activity but for the labor market. Three types
of contracts are previewed The contract of
apprenticeship directed to the fulfillment of
right-must of instruction and formation is the
more elementary form of contract directed to the
formation of the young people that have completed
15 years. The contract has a duration until 3
years, regards whichever field of the working
activity and concurs the acquisition of credits
formed to you. The contract of professional
apprenticeship for the attainment of a
qualification through a formation on the job and
a technical-professional deepening regards the
young people of age comprised between the 18 and

35
The contract of apprenticeship for the

be activated in all the fields and the
comparisons of subjects of age comprised between
the 18 and 29 years for the attainment of a title
or for distances of high formation
Contract to plan the characteristics of this
type of contract are the autonomy of the
collaborator, the coordination with the buyer and
the irrilevance of the time employed for the
execution of the performance. The plan is an
activity connected to a result to which the
collaborator participates directly with his
performance. The plan must contain the indication
of the result that the buyer resolves to do and
the term within which it must be caught up. The
written shape is not necessary in order to render
the contract valid but in order to try some
elements that the law demands.
36
The working contract to term can be stipulated
when there are reasons of technical order,
productive, organizational or substitutive, that
they demand an increment of labor for a period of
limited time.
The insertion contract has the function to
insert or reinsert the worker in the labor
market by means of a plan of adaptation of the
professional competences of the worker to a
determined working context. It is obligatory the
written shape of the contract and in the
contract. The duration will not have to be
inferior to nine months and advanced to eighteen.
The contract can be extended many times, provided
in coherence with the personal plan of insertion
37
Terms of employmentThe terms of employment
are established by a written labour contract,
which shall contain at least the following
personal basic wage, duties of the employee, and
the place of employment. Simultaneously with
entering into the agreement, the employee shall
be informed in writing of basic work hours
other components of his/her remuneration the
date of payment of wages the date of
commencement of the employment the duration of
paid leave and the procedures for allocating and
determining such leave the rules governing the
periods of notice concerning the employer and the
employee in case their contract or employment
relationship is terminated whether a collective
agreement applies to the employee. The labour
contract may be for an undetermined or determined
period of time the latter cannot exceed five
years.
38
In case of change of employer the existing
collective contracts should be binding until they
expire, or until a new contract is signed by the
legal successor. If neither case applies,
employers will be obliged to abide by existing
collective contracts for one year from the change
of ownership of the company. A term of probation
may be established in the contract this term
shall be at least 30 days but cannot exceed three
months. The contract does not require amending if
the place of work changes as a result of the
change of registered seat or place of business of
the employer, even when the change is
disadvantageous for the employee.
