Administered Grants
  • Grant Application Procedures
  • Signature requirements are a function of how a
    grant will be paid (which institution will
    administer the funds, i.e. the University or an
    affiliated teaching hospital or research
    institute.)
  • For U of T administration, submissions are to be
    accompanied by an internal form called the RIS
    application attachment.

  • Grant applications administered by the University
    are to include signatures, as follows
  • Investigator
  • Chair of University Department
  • Associate Dean Research (CIHR or other
    applications requiring Deans signature)
  • University President (University of Toronto
    Research Services Rm 133S Simcoe Hall) (All
    applications other than CIHR)

  • University requirements include provision of a
    completed RIS application attachment
    (http//www.research.utoronto.ca/funding/pdf/ris_b
    lue.pdf)
  • The Associate Dean Research signs on behalf of
    the President of the University and the Dean.
  • Obtain the University Department Chairs
    signature first.

  • Guide for requirement of Deans signature
    (provided by Associate Dean Research)
  • All U of T applications to CIHR
  • Submission and approval are now electronic for
    all operating grants. Applications are submitted
    through ResearchNet to Research Office. Upon
    approval, Research Office submits directly to
    CIHR
  • CIHR requirements include provision to Research
    Office of one complete copy of grant, including
    all signatures for applicant, co-applicants and
    supporting institutions
  • The Associate Dean Research signs on behalf of
    the President of the University and the Dean.
  • Obtain the University Department Chairs
    signature first.
