CBFS Same Service Components, New Paradigm

• Most DMH service components provided today will
  continue under the new CBFS contracts
• Enhanced and transformed to meet consumer need
  and preference
• Maximize flexibility
• Strengthen consumer-driven care/treatment
  planning

• Develop/monitor person-focused outcomes

CBFS and DMH Case Management

• Case management is a vital and highly valued part
  of the DMH community based mental health service
  system this service will continue to be provided
  by DMH case managers
• No DMH case management duties will be transferred
  to CBFS providers
• The CBFS Individualized Action Plan replaces the
  current non-integrated Program Specific Treatment
  Plan (PSTP) that providers were required to
  complete prior to the implementation of CBFS
• Referrals to CBFS services will be made by DMH
  Site Offices

CBFS Implementation

• CBFS services begin on July 1, 2009
• DMH working with CBFS contract awardees to
  transition consumers to new services
• For vendors not awarded a CBFS contract, DMH
  working in partnership to transition consumers to
  the new vendor
• Client needs and preferences addressed at local
  level
• DMH implementation committees established to
  address operational and administrative changes

• CBFS represents a major transition for DMH and
  its role in the public mental health system
• DMH is shifting to an agency that sets standards,
  provides oversight, monitors and assures that the
  same level of quality services are being provided
  to everyone who needs them
• We are creating a mental health system that is

  consumer choice
