    summer

  • B.S.E. in Mathematics Henderson State University,
    Arkadelphia, Arkansas.
  • Minor in communications, Henderson State
    University, Arkadelphia, Arkansas.
  • All Tutors will have a minimum qualification of a
    Bachelors Degree in Education.

Supplies Needed
  • All Materials, Equipment, and Supplies will be
    provided for students as needed.

Program Description
  • LSC uses a 90-minute Model with 3 rotations
  • Including a 5-minute read-aloud for all students
  • Students will spend 25-30 minutes with a tutor in
    small groups
  • Groups will have a ratio of no more that 51
  • Groups are formed based on results from
    pre-assessment
  • Students will receive targeted, individualized
    instruction in reading, writing, and mathematics
  • The Second Rotation will be an Independent Course
  • Independent reading, writing, and or math skills
    practice (monitored by a tutor)
  • The Third Rotation will include a Technology
    Component
  • Students will practice targeted skills on the
    computer

  • In this program each student will receive
  • Individualized instruction from a teacher/tutor
  • Independent practice with the new skill or
    strategy
  • Immediate feedback
  • Additional practice through technology
  • (There will be a 10 minute break during the
    90-minute program)

Program Benefits
  • Highly-Qualified Tutors
  • Students will not only be working with tutors but
    will receive time to immediately practice the new
    skill with guided practice.
  • Face-To-Face Interaction
  • Ensures students will have questions and needs
    addressed quickly (immediate feedback)
  • Students will not incorrectly learn or
    internalize a skill, strategy, or concept and
    then later practice it the wrong way

LSC On-Site Library
  • An on-site library will be maintained to provide
    reading material for each students at the reading
    level
  • A wide variety of books will be available
  • Different reading levels
  • Variety of genres, picture books, chapter books,
    etc
  • Books are leveled based on the Fountas and
    Pinnell Leveled Reading Guide
  • A large assortment of math concept books will
    also be available
  • Books will be used for independent reading and/or
    visual math tutoring sessions

Parent Involvement
  • Parents will be required to drop off and pick up
    students
  • Progress reports will be provided for parents
    once a week
  • Parents are welcome to visit with tutors at the
    end of the day
  • Parents are encouraged to attend at least once
    during the tutoring sessions.
  • Parents are not required to provide any supplies
    or materials

    practiced
  • The progress the student is making
  • Districts will be provided a final report as well
    indicating the overall progress of the students
    in the program
