  • This was a Prospective Randomized trial of 128
    hypertensive patients that were to undergo
    elective surgery that were given a single oral
    beta blocker with their pre-operative medications
    by the anesthesiologists and were stratified
    based on pre-operative blood pressure
    measurements into normotensive and hypertensive
    groups with hypertension defined as SBP 160-200
    mmHg or DBP 90-100 mmHg.
