Acupuncture Study for Women with PCOS

• Do you have one or more of these symptoms?
• Infrequent, irregular or no periods
• Undesired hair growth on face and body
• Weight gain
• Acne
• If so, you may qualify to participate in
  this study. The UVa Health System, Department of
  Obstetrics and Gynecology, seeks female
  volunteers, ages 18 to 43, with Polycystic Ovary
  Syndrome (PCOS) for an acupuncture research
  study. Some of the usual treatment options for
  PCOS may include birth control pills, fertility
  medications, or prescription drugs like
  metformin. The purpose of this study is to test
  if acupuncture restores monthly periods (and the
  related hormones) in women with PCOS. The study
  takes place over 5 months. Participants will be
  assigned by chance to either an acupuncture group
  or a placebo-acupuncture group. The study
  includes blood sugar tests that require fasting,
  blood draws, urine pregnancy tests and
  questionnaires. Study-related exams, tests,
  parking and three meals are provided free of
  charge. Compensation for study completion is
  170.00.
