Aims of Greenwich Deaf playscheme

• To give the deaf child and hearing child of a
  deaf parent the opportunity to develop through
  play and leisure experiences.
• To identify deaf children and hearing children
  as" Children in Need in accordance with the
  Children Act (1989) and to offer opportunities in
  accordance with those needs.
• To reduce isolation and build up confidence of
  deaf children and hearing children of deaf
  parents.
• To improve deaf children and hearing childrens
  quality of life by giving them social
  opportunities and choices.
• To enable deaf children and hearing children of
  deaf parents to access activities and
  opportunities to reduce the stress of
  communication difficulties.
• To recognise that the deaf child and hearing
  child of a deaf parent is part of a family and to
  support the needs of the whole family in offering
  respite.
• To provide a secure environment in which deaf
  children and hearing children of deaf parents can
  enjoy similar play and leisure opportunities to
  their peers.
