IFDP Objectives

• To enhance the understanding of program
  participants of promising practices in
  international education, research, and outreach
• To enhance the capacity of departments and
  colleges to internationalize programs
• To create a cohort of faculty leaders/activists/ad
  vocates to advance the Universitys International
  Strategic Plan

• Each dean selects two participants
• Group meetings in winter/spring
• Internationalizing the academy

• A ten-day trip to Riva San Vitale, Switzerland,
  in May
• Group field visits

• MOUs with the University of Trier and the
  University of Karlshrue
• 2 students from Trier completed MS degree in Math
  at VT
• 2 students from Karlshrue began graduate studies
  in Math at VT in Fall 2006
• MOU with two German companies (Diff Pack and
  Springer) and ICUBED
• 2 students from VT interned in Germany in Summer
  2006
• VT and three companies are pursuing study
  abroad/intern programs in South Africa
