• THE PICTURE
• While the beast was appearing to be victorious
  Christ was reigning upon his royal throne

• 1 Representative of the elect of God upon
  earth
• 2 They are have Gods name upon their
  foreheads indicating that they are kept secure
  for him
• 3 They are therefore the opposite of those who
  possess the number of the beast

• THEIR CHARACTERISTICS
• 1 A song which only the redeemed can sing
• 2 They have been faithful to the Lord by not
  committing spiritual fornication
• 3 Gods throne declares them to be righteous

THE LINK WITH CHAPTER 13

• Out of the darkness of antichrists dominion we
  see Gods people triumphant, joyful and faithful
  because the Lamb is upon His throne

THE VOICE OF OPPORTUNITY

• V6-7
• Gods Kingdom gives the people of the earth
  opportunity to repent and receive the everlasting
  gospel despite their submission to the power of
  antichrist

THE VOICES OF WARNING

• V8-12
• Coupled with opportunity is warning
• Babylon will fall which is the centre of
  antichrists kingdom
• Those who receive the mark of the beast will
  perish
• The fact that God warns sinners is a sign of his
  grace
• The saints are encouraged to wait and be patient

THE VOICE OF COMFORT

• V13
• Whatever trials and persecutions Gods people
  experience as a result of antichrist they are
  comforted by the blessed reward that follows
  those who die in the Lord

THE VOICES OF THE FINAL HARVEST

• V14-20
• The scriptures liken the final judgement to a
  harvest Matthew 1324-30
• Christ is the judge who will appear to execute
  his sickle of judgement at the last day
• He will wear not a crown of thorns but the golden
  crown of kings

THE REAPERS

• The angels will assist the Saviour in this solemn
  work
• This again is a picture consistent with
  scripture Matt 1349, 2431, Mark 1327

THE REAPING

• The maturity of the fruit indicates that the
  wickedness will be fully ripe for Gods wrath
• The winepress is here the picture of Gods
  eternal wrath Rev 1915
• The winepress is located outside the city or the
  New Jerusalem, the eternal abode of the church

CHAPTER 14 IN CONTEXT

• We are brought once more to the end of the world
  as we were in ch6
• The church is comforted after ch13 as she was in
  ch7 after ch6
• A twofold purpose of the book is highlighted
• A series of visions showing the conflict between
  Christ and antichrist in the days which will
  ultimately end in victory for the lamb, the King
• To comfort Gods people in days of great darkness
