The Great Blue Heron is one of the top predators
of the Chesapeake Bay food chain.

The Great Blue Heron is found along fresh calm
water and seacoast and usually nests near water.

The white form of the Great Blue Heron is found
nearly exclusively in shallow marine waters.

Although the Great Blue Heron eats primarily
fish, it is adaptable and willing to eat other
animals, such as invertebrates, birds, reptiles,
and crawfish.

The size of the Great Blue Heron is 97-137 cm
tall. The weight of the Great Blue Heron is
2100-2500 grams. The Blue Heron also has an S
shaped neck.

The female Heron lays 3-7 eggs. The eggs are pale
green in color.
