  • FOR EARLY VOTING ONLY

AVC EDGE VOTING SYSTEM
  • The AVC Edge voting systems will be used at every
    registrar of voters office and branch office for
    early voting in person which is conducted the
    week before an election.
  • No justification is needed to vote early.

VOTER ACTIVATIONCARD
  • When using the AVC Edge voting system, the voter
    will be given a VOTER CARD to activate the
    system.
  • This card will be programmed with the voters
    precinct.

  • The voter will insert the VOTER CARD into the
    bright yellow slot located at the bottom left
    side of the voting system.

    yellow arrow facing the slot.
  • The VOTER CARD must be pushed into the slot,
    until the voter feels it click.

TOUCHSCREEN VOTING SYSTEM
  • The AVC Edge voting system is a touchscreen
    voting system.
  • When voting, touch the screen lightly. A lot of
    pressure is not needed.

WHAT IS AN ELECTIONCONTEST
  • An election contest is one where the voter is to
    select a candidate, constitutional amendment, or
    proposition.

TO CAST A VOTE FOR AN ELECTION
  • To cast a vote for an election, the voter must
    vote for at least one candidate, constitutional
    amendment, or proposition.

  • The voter may touch anywhere in the box on the
    screen that contains the voters choice for an
    election contest.

  • The voter must confirm that an X mark appears
    in the box in which the voters choice appears.

CHANGING A VOTE FOR AN ELECTION CONTEST
  • The voter may change his or her vote by touching
    the same selection for a contest again. The
    selection for that contest is then deselected.

  • The voter may recast his or her vote by touching
    the correct selection for that contest again
    until an X mark appears in the square located
    in the box in which his or her choice appears.

REVIEW OFELECTION CONTESTS SELECTED
  • After the voter has completed making his or her
    selections, a screen will automatically appear
    showing the voter his or her selection(s) for
    each contest on the ballot.
  • Some contests may require more than one choice to
    be selected.
  • Any contests not voted will be shown in red on
    the touchscreen.

REVIEW OF ELECTION CONTESTS SELECTED (CONTINUED)
  • If the voter wants to make a change in his or her
    vote selection, he or she must touch the contest
    to return to the ballot page for that contest.
  • The voter must follow the procedures for changing
    a vote.
  • The voter must then press the NEXT box until he
    or she reaches the review page. If all
    selections are final, he or she may continue.

  • To complete voting, touch the yellow square that
    reads TOUCH HERE TO CAST YOUR BALLOT.
  • The voter will then see RECORDING VOTE. PLEASE
    WAIT.

  • The audio voting keypad is available to anyone
    to use, including individuals who
  • Are visually impaired
  • Are physically disabled
  • Are illiterate
  • Have difficulty reading the written word or
  • Have difficulty reading English.

  • Review sample ballot before going to vote (A
    copy can be obtained in the newspaper or on our
    webpage at www.sos.louisiana.gov.)
  • Follow the instructions on the right panel of the
    AVC Edge voting system and
  • If needed, study the Guide to Using the Audio
    Voting Keypad.
