8
How We Treat Enemies
  • Love them through actions
  • Bless them through your speech
  • Do good unto them even when persecuted
  • Pray for them to respond to Gods word
  • In doing so, you impact their lives
  • And you continue to grow in Christ

9
Why?
  • That you may be sons of your Father in Heaven
  • We show our citizenship by our actions
  • We show impartial love because God does Luke
    635-36 Romans 58, 10 1 John 22

10
Luke 635-36
  • But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping
for nothing in return and your reward will be
great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For
He is kind to the unthankful and evil. Therefore
be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful.

11
Romans 58, 10
  • But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in
that while we were still sinners, Christ died for
    us.
  • For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to
God through the death of His Son, much more,
having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His
    life.

12
1 John 22
  • And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins,
and not for ours only but also for the whole
    world.

13
Why?
  • That you may be sons of your Father in Heaven
  • We show our citizenship by our actions
  • We show impartial love because God does Luke
    635-36 Romans 58, 10 1 John 22
  • As disciples, we are to emulate Gods love 1
    John 410-11 Ephesians 431-52

14
1 John 410-11
  • In this is love, not that we loved God, but that
He loved us and sent His Son to be the
propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so
loved us, we also ought to love one another.

15
Ephesians 431 - 52
  • Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and
evil speaking be put away from you, with all
malice. And be kind to one another,
tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God
    in Christ forgave you.
  • Therefore be imitators of God as dear children.
And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and
given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice
to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.

16
Why?
  • We are called to live on a higher level than the
    world Matt 546-47
  • Not as the world loving those who love us,
    returning kindness for kindness only
  • But as Christians impartial in our love, showing
    kindness to all

17
Why?
  • To be like our Heavenly Father Matthew 548
  • Perfect, complete and mature in our love Luke
    636
  • Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also
    is merciful.

18
Why?
  • To be like our Heavenly Father Matthew 548
  • Perfect, complete and mature in our love Luke
    636
  • Patterning our lives after Christ not the
    world!
