  • Request fee from each school PTA to offset costs

  • 2 forms DUE in hand Dec 1st so suggest paying
    Nov 8th (see handbook)
  • City dues 25 per member (if less than 100
    members, pay 25 min and if more than 500 members
    just pay 125 max) new form can also pay
    Reflections fee scholarship donation at same
    time
  • State/National dues 2.50 per member

    Williamsburg/JCC, Gloucester) is March 25th
  • City Banquet is May 13th

  • Still have Red Heart Newsletter awards as done
    previously
  • There have been a few changes!
  • Volunteer of the Year due date moved up to
    February 8th so that winner can be submitted to
    District level (all others due April 1st)
  • Champion of the Year for Parent Involvement for
    Principals previously now applies to any HCS
    staff member
  • Spotlight Award awarded to one primary one
    secondary school

Scholarship ProgramHampton Graduating Seniors
  • Committee chair Sheilah Ray
  • Special because it emphasizes community
    involvement

  • Goal is to increase scholarship to four 1,000
    awards
  • Request donations from each school PTA
  • Soliciting donations from community businesses
    letter in your bag to distribute

RIF
  • Chair Robin Carpenter
  • Orientation was held already
  • Elementary schools should have it in budget
  • Cost is 1 per child enrolled each student gets
    3 books, distributed throughout year
  • Received a 14,600 grant from Macys so selection
    of books can be improved

  • Need 2 things
  • EVERY YEAR 501(c)(3) IRS Determination Letter
  • EVERY 5 YEARS Commonwealth of VA Sales Use Tax
    Certificate of Exemption Letter
  • Instructions in handbook

TAX REPORTING
  • All schools have to file with IRS
  • Form 990 or 990-EZ for GROSS receipts over
    25,000
  • e-Postcard if under that
  • Fiscal year ending June 30, 2008 returns due by
    November 15, 2008
