- REEEP is a global Type II partnership launchedby
the UK government at the WSSD. - REEEP currently comprises 138 partners
representing 27 governments, businesses and NGOs
committed to accelerating the uptake of renewable
energy and energy efficiency. - REEEP is currently funded by various governments
such as the Austria, Canada, EU, Germany,
Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, US, and
UK. -

- Stimulation of a significant global increase of
investments in RES energy sources - Stimulation of significant increase in the global
use of energy efficiency measures - Improvement of rural energy supply in developing
and transition countries by utilisation of RES

5Leveraging existing partnerships REEEP intends
to work with established partnerships across the

- Facilitate exchange of experience between policy
makers and regulators on the mechanisms that will
accelerate the development of renewable energy
and energy efficiency (sustainable energy) - Improve understanding of the technical issues
related to the integration of sustainable energy
into the power system - Recognise and act on the opportunities that
energy sector reform provides for the development
of energy systems- including the opportunity to
incorporate social and environmental objectives
from the outset - Promote better understanding and awareness of

experts - Have formed part of a one week Utility
Foundations course run for regulators and
government officials in Africa (Lusaka and Cape
Town) - Are being used in a REEEP funded project to
provide training and development support on the
implementation of mechanisms to promote
renewable energy in the 2003 Energy Act, in
Andhra Pradesh. - Will be used to assist develop regulation
methodologies in Mexico - Are now being further developed and expanded in
collaboration with REEEP partners REEEP keen to
explore further opportunities with existing and
new partners -
