At least 150,000 people are thought to have died
in ten countries. As many as 440 Britons may have
died.

The British public has now donated more than 200
million to the Disasters Emergency Committee
joint appeal of which Tearfund is a member.

Individuals and churches have also given more
than 3 million directly to Tearfund.

  • More than 13,000 feared dead
  • Tearfunds partners Eficor, the Discipleship
    Centre and Emmanuel Hospital Association are
    co-ordinating relief efforts
  • This includes providing daily food, water,
    medical assistance and relief packs for up to
    40,000 families

In Sri Lanka
  • More than 30,000 feared dead
  • Leads, part of the Sri Lankan Evangelical
    Alliance, is providing relief to more than 9,000
    families
  • This includes food and water, clothes, shelter
    and blankets

In Indonesia
  • More than 100,000 feared dead
  • Tearfund is joining with other agencies in a
    large-scale co-ordinated relief effort
  • Teams of volunteers from churches are bringing
    food and medical aid to many people
