OVID. To register while the self registration
tool is being completed, please send an email to
info_at_ovd.us with your name, business name and
phone number. Qualified users will receive a
password within 48 hours. OVID is currently open
to all grape growers, wineries and management
companies in Oregon.

Navigation Bar.
Enter your email address and password, then click
Login.
5
Growers Home
Welcome to your Growers Home From this page you
will create and share your vineyard and block
records and access services. 1) Begin your OVID
recordkeeping with "Edit Vineyard Properties" to
describe your vineyard. 2) Then continue with
"Add New Block" to describe your plantings. 3)
After your first vineyard blocks are created and
described, you can add or review records by block
or by activity. 4) Explore the "Enter records
by activity" menu to see the activities you can
record.

Adding a Block
This List of Blocks page displays the management
blocks already created for the year shown at
upper right.  Blocks need to be created and
described before activities or observations can
be added or reviewed.Blocks can be created in
two ways, as you will see by clicking the "Add
New" button at the bottom.  A management block
might be a single planting (e.g. 2 acres of Pinot
Noir planted in 1995) or a area within a planting
contracted to a single winery (e.g. 1 acre of
1995 Pinot Noir contracted to Oregon Vintage
Winery).
7
Adding a Block

On the Add/Copy Blocks page you can create new
vineyard management blocks in two different
ways. You can "Add a New Block to your Vineyard"
by giving the new block a year (e.g. 2005) and a
number (e.g. 1) and clicking the "Go" button.
This is how you create your first management
block. After you have described your first
block, to create additional blocks you can "Copy
Data from Existing Block to a New Block" by
selecting the year and number of an existing
block and copying it to a new year (e.g. 2006) or
a new number (e.g. 2) .
8
Adding a Block
  • The Basic Details page requires all of the data
in the shaded area be entered, to create the
    Block Record.
  • Note The fields at the bottom for acreage,
elevation, slope, and aspect will be used later,
as OVID's GIS component develops.  Elevation is
in feet, slope in percent, and aspect in compass
    direction (from 0 to 360).

Once youve entered all of your data into OVID,
you can download it into an Excel file to further
analyze it. To download Activity Data into an
Excel file, click on Download Data on the Growers

Sharing DataWith Others
The OVID tool allows owners to share data with
each other. This is entirely voluntary. If you
would prefer not to share data, your data will be
accessible only to you. To share data, begin at
the Growers Home, go to the Access To Vineyard
area. Choose how access will be granted (e.g. by
block, by vineyard, or to all vineyards.)
16
Sharing DataWith Others
You can choose which activities to share by
selecting from the Activity List. Alternately,
you can select Grant access to all vineyard
Activities.
17
Sharing DataWith Others
Next, select the OVID member that you want to
grant access to. Select the persons name and
click on Add User. Next, go to the User Access
List at the bottom of the page. Use the drop
down box to select the type of access that you
want to grant. You can choose Disabled (no
access), Read (only able to look at data, not to
make changes) or Read/Write (ability to both look
at and change data). You can also remove a
person by checking the delete box.
18
Sharing DataWith Others
To find vineyards in OVID, use the Search
Vineyards function on the Growers Home. Search by
first letter or word. To search by vineyard
characteristics, click on Advanced Search.
19
Sharing DataWith Others

Once youve identified the vineyard that youd
like to learn more about, you can contact the
OVID member directly and request access to their
data.

File PURS Reports
As of January 1, 2007, it is mandatory to file a
Pesticide Usage Report to the Oregon Department
of Agriculture for any pesticides used. By
completing the Spray Events Details section in
OVID, you have all the information necessary to
file the report. Once you add your data, you can
create an XML file from the Growers Home.
22
File PURS Reports
Before you can download your ODA information, you
need to Register with the ODA and receive an ID
number. Complete details are on the ODA website.

23
File PURS Reports
Once you have an ODA ID number, you need to
Register Pesticide Users on OVIDs Growers
Home. Click on Manage Registered Pesticide Users
and enter the requested information. Once that
step is complete, you can Click on Generate an
ODA Report.
24
File PURS Reports
From the Generate ODA Report page, you can select
the blocks for the report and the year. Click
Submit. Next, youll see the report(s) added to
the Spray Events box on the bottom of the page.

25
File PURS Reports
When you see the File Download box, click Save
and save the file in a location where you can
find it easily. You can also rename the file to
add date and/or block information.
26
File PURS Reports
After you have saved your file, you have to log
into the PURS site. Since you registered prior
to creating your OVID file, you can simply login
and upload the file that you downloaded from
OVID. The PURS tool will alert you to any errors
or omissions in the file. PURS instructions are
available on the site. If you have issues with
the PURS system, please contact ODA directly.
