• Ive loved horses ever since I can remember.

I began riding lessons at age 7. I continued
riding lessons for 10 years. I got my first
horse at age 14.

I joined 4-H when I was 14. I was on the senior
judging team when we took 16th at the State
Judging Contest.

At 15, at the Indiana State Fair, I took fourth
place in open jumping.

I graduated from Horse Management School in 1980.
I trained a horse no one else could. This horse
had a rope attached to his halter, just so he
could be caught in the stall.

I managed a thoroughbred race horse farm in
1981-2 and worked on the race track in 1982-4.

I enjoy western (and english not pictured)
pleasure, driving, and contesting.

In 1986 I became a Licensed Veterinary
Technician. I worked in small animal practice
for 10 years.

Ive worked in laboratory animal medicine since
1996. Im currently a Research Associate II.
Ive learned a lot from working with research
animals. Mice and rats are just as sensitive to
our emotions as horses. When handled calmly and
not rushed, they work more willingly and are less
aggressive.
