Introduction

• Good Morning America reported on August 6th that
  a 3.5 million ton trash heap lies in the Pacific
  Ocean.
• You are the Presidents science advisor and he
  has asked you to explain the problem to him.

THE TASK

• Answer the Presidents questions
• Where did all this trash come from?
• How did it get to its present location?
• Why is it not leaving the area?
• If things continue unchanged predict what the
  area will be like in 2025?
• What are possible solutions?

The Process

• Prepare a 2-3 page typed report that answers all
  the Presidents questions.
• Be sure to include a Bibliography in case the
  Presidents wishes more information.
• Prepare a 2-3 minute oral presentation with
  visual aids
• Present your findings to the President (the
  class).
