1
GREATER CENTRAL TEXAS YOUTH ASSOCIATION
ATX-BOYS BASKETBALL PROGRAM 2007 PROGRAM
OVERVIEW
2
  • Who is GCTYA
  • The mission of the Greater Central Texas
Youth Association (GCTYA) is to "Enrich the
minds, bodies and spirits or our participants,
through academics and athletics."  We strive to
be an alternative to the various negative
elements which compete for the attention of our
    youth.  Our organization offers mentorship
    programs, tutorial assistance, opportunities to
participate in community service projects, as
well as an exciting basketball experience.  The
GCTYA is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) certified
    organization, registered with the Internal
    Revenue Service.
  • Who are the ATX Boys
  • The ATX Boys is a program of the GCTYA.
The name ATX Boys is an acronym which stands for
"Austin Texas Backbone of Youth Sports."  It
consists of a group of young men and women
ranging from elementary to high school ages.
These young people represent all areas of the
city of Austin and surrounding communities with
three things in common  academic excellence,
    social achievement and pure unadulterated
basketball talent.  The program was started in
1995 by a handful of committed parents who were
determined to give their kids an opportunity to
compete in the game of basketball at the AAU
    (Amateur Athletics Union) national level.

  • ATX-BOYS Basketball Operations Mission
    Statement
  • The overall goal of GCTYA Basketball
Operations is to expose all players to the
highest level of competition through AAU
sanctioned events, NCAA certified tournaments and
elite level basketball camps. To assist players
in developing and improving their overall
basketball skills and their male mannerism to
prepare them for the next level of collegiate
academics and athletics. We want to help all
players gain exposure to college recruiters
through the tournaments and media and provide
players with information about college tuition
    assistance, grants and scholarship
qualifications. We will also encourage players to
    participate in volunteer activities centered
around giving back to the Greater Austin
    community.
